Friendship bracelets

Hello there.

Today's post is about the colourful friendship bracelets, which were very popular back in the 1970s. Recently they have become popular again, and I came upon them through my friend, who taught me how to do a simple pattern, which I loved to pieces, literally.
I read on the inter'gre'net, that the bracelets apparently are supposd to be tied onto the wrist of a friend, who you want to wish something good for. You have to wear it until it's worn-out, or until it falls off by itself. Then, according to traditions, the wish will come true. How adorable is that?

I enjoyed making my first bracelet so much, that I wanted to challenge myself a bit, and find other and more difficult patterns to do. I was lucky to get a variety of thread from my sweet sweet granny, and the search for patterns began. There are hundreds and hundreds of great patterns on the internet and tons of tutorials on Youtube, so it's easy to begin. If you've already seen these cute bracelets before, but thought to yourself, I can't do that, then of course you can! It's actually really easy, and it's something everyone can do, plus it's also quite fun. Well, I think it is, and I'm sure that everyone else, who likes to be creative, probably will like it too.

I think the friendship bracelets are very cute, and I love wearing them. You can choose whatever colour and whatever pattern you may like, and it's a thing you can give as a personal gift for your friends, which they will surely love. Oh, and my mum loves them too, so do make one for your sweet mum as well.

Below I have gathered a collection of the ones I have made so far.

As you can see, I only managed to find a few, even though I have made loads of them, but I've either given them as gifts, or worn them until they fell apart, so I only have these left. I haven't made any tutorials for any of these, because there are already a lot of really great ones out there. You just need to search.

The easiest friendship bracelet to do, is the basic diagonal striped one, also called candy stripe, which is the one you can see at the right. If you'd like to try out the one at the left, the zig zag one, this is a great tutorial:

Framework

Hey!

I recently found an old wooden frame, when we cleared up the attic. One of the upsides of living on a big old farm is, that you always discover new (OLD) things.

Anyway, the frame looked old (in the bad way) and I didn't like the color. I wanted it to keep an old look, though, so I found a technique, which I thought was just right for my frame!

The result:

And here is how I did it:

1. Find a cool old wooden frame
2. Sand the frame carefully and get as much old paint off as possible
3. Paint/spray the frame with your base color
4. Paint/spray the frame with your top color
5. Sand the frame at the places where you want the base color to come through.

You should try it!

Pretty lips

 Hello there.

Lately I’ve been loving these Rimmel London Lasting Finish Matte Lipsticks by Kate Moss. Oh boy, that’s quite a sentence. I bought the shade number 107 a while ago and I immediately fell in love with it. I would describe the colour as bordeaux/cherry plum, and this a great alternative if you aren’t brave enough to try the strong red lipstick colours, which aren’t for everyone (me).

Firstly, I adore the packaging. It’s so cute with the red colour and the Kate signature with a little heart  on it. Secondly, it has a lovely scent. I know that this is not a plus for everybody, but I like the fact that it smells good without being too much. Thirdly, and most important, it lasts about 5 hours and it looks great on the lips. It's very pigmented and has a kind of creamy texture. In my oppinion it doesn’t really dry out, but you could always add a layer of lipbalm if necessesary.

Well, because I liked this so much, I decided to buy another one this summer. I bought shade number 109, because I thought the bordeaux one would be too heavy for the summer. This coral one is more summery, and I like it a lot, even though it has a slighty unusual colour. I’ve used this lipstick many many many  times, and I’ve also got a few positive comments on it, yaii.

By the way, I guess the camera has teased me a bit, so the colours are a little bit different in the last picture than in reality :).

Cheeky Random Facts

Name: Line
Nickname: None
Age: 19

1.   I almost got all of the 51 Disney Classics. A little childish, I know, but I just love that all of them got the HAPPILY-EVER-AFTER-ending. And they bring back sweet memories from my childhood.

2.   M&M's and P-pies (I'm absolutely NOT sure if they are called so in English or if they even exist outside Denmark, but it is Frech nougat with peanuts and chocolate) make my day!

3.   I really hate to shop jeans and trousers, because they are always too short!

4.   Naturally my hair is some kind of mix of red, orange and blond, I think...

5.   My favorite book is... I actually don't think I have a favorite book. I don't have a favorite anything. I like so many books, movies, songs and colors that I can't choose.

6.   I work in a golf shop and played golf for a period, but my heart truly belongs to volleyball. Hey, I do have a favorite something. Favorite sport: volleyball

7.   I live in a tiny town. If you blink you might miss it.

8.   I live with my parents, but still I got my own walk-in-closet. How cool is THAT!? Not so cool as it sounds. It's tiny, I have to share it with my brother and my dress rail is broken.

9.   When I'm not at school, at work, at volleyball or somewhere else I like to sew and do little creative projects.

10. I have really big nostrils (as the picture maybe indicates)

Name: Stine
Age: 18
I'd like to: go paragliding

1.    My sense of balance is awful. A small gust of wind and my face hits the ground. People say it's probably due to my small feet, because I’m quite tall.

2.    I have a green toothbrush since my favourite colour is green, and I have a baby pink bicycle, which is strange because that’s my least favourite colour.

3.    I’m allergic to dust mites and cats.

4.    My favourite animal is the red panda, because it’s just too damn cute.

5.    I have a fear of water and people in unrecognizable costumes. I know it sounds weird, but Santa, the Easter Bunny, etc. give me the creeps. Does anyone feel the same way?

6.    People always compliment my smile and good humour. I love to make people smile, and if I make them laugh as well, it makes my day.

7.    Music is a huge part of big life. I’m studying music, play guitar and piano, sing, and write songs in my spare time.

8.    When I "grow up", I want to work with film or graphic design.

9.    I’m a huge game lover and I play everything from The Sims, to World of Warcraft and The Legend of Zelda. Yup.

10.    My favourite icecream flavor is pistachio. I don’t know why, but it’s amazing. I have to say though, that a mango/raspberry flavour isn’t that bad either. Yum yum.
